SEA & the SDGs

SEA disseminates best practices for impact measurement within our communities of focus. This helps foster impact within and beyond the local community, while ensuring alignment with key SDGs.

Since their introduction in 2015, the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have emerged as the generally accepted criteria guiding investors interested in achieving impact. The 17 goals cover a wide range of social and environmental goals, the attainment of which are generally recognized as ensuring unambiguous developmental progress for the world’s poor. Accordingly, these SDGs form the basis of SEA’s impact measurement approach.

IMPACT MEASUREMENT

Explore the SDGs

Guided by the goals, it is now up to all of us, governments, businesses, civil society and the general public to work together to build a better future for everyone.

Measuring Impact

SEA works to disseminate best practices for impact measurement within our communities of focus. This helps to foster impact within and beyond the local community, while ensuring the alignment with key SDGs.

Job Creation.

We partner with organizations to co-create market-leading frontier solutions that will drive tomorrow’s economy.

Technology Transfer.

We work with accelerator partners to define impact strategies that align with the needs of impact-oriented investors.

Impact Alignment.

We leverage 3 approaches to investment to align incentives and engage new sources of impact-oriented financing.

Community Creation

Upon creation, each new SEA Community identifies key SDG(s) it intends to address based on the relative attributes associated with the respective region/sector.

Strategic Development Areas

Once Strategic Development Areas (SDAs) are defined within each community, impact goals are set based on specific SDG targets in focus.

Innovation Campaigns

After sponsorship, SEA will work with the SDA sponsor to further define key impact requirements for the SDA campaign in focus.

MVP Development

Once an MVP is selected, impact requirements will be defined using GIIN’s metric catalog, IRIS to ensure effective tracking of impact metrics in focus. By effectively “building in” this into the MVP product, impact becomes bottom-line to defining success.

Community Scaling

Once the MVP has demonstrated product-market fit, SEA works with the sponsor to identify risk capital partnerships, often through the form of impact investing, who seek to scale the solution while preserving its social mission.

SEA provides Investment Promotion Agencies(IPAs) with tools and processes for analyzing, aligning and promoting public investment opportunities to foreign direct investors.
